Over 25 Years of Dental Experience
A Proud Local Beacher
Dr. Ajay Singh has been practising dentistry for over 25 years and is a proud resident of Toronto’s Beach neighbourhood. He has called the Beach home for almost 20 years and enjoys being part of the community, whether dining at local restaurants, having an espresso on a neighbourhood patio, cycling along the waterfront trail, or catching up with neighbours and friends.
Dr. Singh and his wife have raised their two children in this lakeside community and are proud to call the Beach their forever home.
Early Education and Interest in Dentistry
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Singh enjoys cycling, playing soccer, collecting model trains, tending to his prized garden, and travelling. He has travelled extensively, visiting more than 40 countries and counting.
Dr. Singh grew up in Whitby and earned a Combined Arts and Science degree (B.A.Sc.), Summa Cum Laude, from McMaster University. During his third year, he received a competitive National Science Research Council grant for a summer research project while completing a minor degree through McMaster’s Theme School of New Materials. This valuable experience helped spark his early interest in pursuing a career in dentistry.
Dental Education and Residency
Dr. Singh earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) with honours from the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry in 2000. During his dental education, he completed a two-month summer externship program at the University of Texas at San Antonio Medical Centre, where he participated in pathology and surgical rotations.
Following graduation, Dr. Singh was accepted into a highly competitive General Practice Dental Residency at the University of Western Ontario. His residency included experience at University Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Centre, and Victoria Cancer Centre in London, Ontario.
During this intensive year, he completed rotations in ENT, periodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and plastic surgery while participating in a rotating call schedule across multiple Western University-affiliated hospitals. This experience provided a strong clinical foundation that continues to influence his approach to patient care, treatment planning, and continuing education.
Professional Experience and Memberships
Dr. Singh was recently recognized with a 25-year Ontario Dental Association certificate for good standing. He is registered with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and previously owned and operated Smile Dentistry in North York for 20 years.
His extensive experience in private practice has allowed him to care for patients with a wide range of dental needs while maintaining a strong focus on evidence-based dentistry and personalized patient care.
Continuing Education and Approach to Care
Dr. Singh previously served as a part-time clinical instructor at the Durham College School of Dental Hygiene. His teaching experience, combined with his ongoing participation in continuing education, helps him stay current with developments in dentistry and provide treatment options based on each patient’s individual needs.
Preventive dentistry and evidence-based dental research are central to Dr. Singh’s approach to care. He believes in taking the time to understand his patients, clearly explain their treatment options, and provide dental care in a compassionate and gentle manner.
